Thursday's roundup: Wahconah softball rolls, 18-2
DALTON -- Gabby Lavinio had three hits, including a grand slam, to lead Wahconah to an 18-2 win over Monument Mountain in a mercy-rule shortened game on Thursday.
The Warriors batted around in a 10-run first that was capped off by Lavinio's homer.
Lavinio and Sarah Trova were both 3 for 3 on the game. Lavinio had five RBI. Chloe Warren and Shannon Lussier had two hits on the night. It was Trova's first varsity start.
Morgan Hammer led the Spartans with two hits.

SHELBURNE FALLS -- The Hurricanes trailed 1-0 after an inning, but scored at least one run in the next five innings to get this win.
"We put the ball in play and played good defense," said Hurricane coach Morgan Shafer. "That's what won this game for us."
Caroline Tomkowicz allowed four hits, struck out nine and walked three for the win.
The Hurricanes hit three triples, by Erin Girard, Tori Rumbolt and Sienna Witherall. This is Rumbolt's first start since a leg injury sidelined her during the Western Mass. basketball playoffs.
