Towns issue on-street parking bans

• Pittsfield has issued an on-street parking ban from 6 p.m. on Friday until 7 a.m. on Sunday so plows and sanders can push snow.

The exception is North Street where parking is allowed between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Cars also will not be able to park between midnight and 7 a.m. overnight Saturday and Sunday.

The city will tow vehicles that are parked on city streets.

For the duration of the snow emergency, people who have no off-street parking spots can park in the three-hour public parking areas of the McKay Center and Columbus Avenue parking garages.

City residents also must clear sidewalks within 24 hours of the storm's end. They are also being asked to clear snow from around fire hydrants.

• Lenox has declared a snow emergency beginning today at 4:00 p.m. continuing through Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Any vehicles parked on any streets town-wide will be towed at the owner's expense for snow removal purposes.

• Dalton has declared a snow emergency beginning at 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. Sunday. No vehicles will be allowed to park on the side of any roads during this time period. Any vehicles found to be parked on the roads will towed at the owner's expense.
