CLARKSBURG — A tractor-trailer nearly took a nosedive down a steep embankment when it failed to negotiate Route 2's Hairpin Turn and broke through the guard rail.

The vehicle remained at the precipice near the Golden Eagle restaurant after the accident, which occurred around 2 p.m., until Dean's Towing arrived to extricate it, according to Clarksburg Police Department.

Its front tires were dangling over the edge.

Clarksburg Fire Department was joined by North Adams Police and Ambulance at the scene, and traffic closed down to one lane while the removal performed.
