Tuesday's baseball: Post 68 beats N. Adams, 9-3
NORTH ADAMS -- Pittsfield Post 68 sent 10 batters to the plate in the seventh inning Tuesday, and scored six runs to break a 3-3 tie for a 9-3 American Legion win over North Adams.
Post 68 pitcher Liam Nolan went the distance, striking out seven in the process. He allowed four baserunners in the first inning, and then only allowed four more to reach the entire game.
"About the third inning was when he started to find his groove," Post 68 coach Jim Mazzer said. "He really kicked it in about then. His curveball had more snap to it; and that's really the key to his game. When he has that curveball working and he's mixing his change of speed in."
Myles Candelet laid down an important sacrifice bunt to start the rally. Rory Slattery then put his team ahead with an RBI single.
Post 68 sent 10 men to the plate in the inning, and recorded four of its seven hits in the frame. Zach Neary had two RBI in the inning. Hunter Stanton chipped in one of his two RBI in the inning as well.
Robert Jutras had the only RBI for North Adams, which sent more than three batters to the plate in an inning only three times Tuesday. Preite was the only one to reach base multiple times.
