Greylock 17, Pittsfield 9
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Mount Greylock girls lacrosse coach Lindsey von Holtz showed her team an empty piece of paper before they took the field for warm-ups Tuesday afternoon. It was the lineup card.
Unhappy with how her team has been preparing for games of late, von Holtz told her squad they needed to earn starting positions in warm-ups.
The tactic worked. The Mounties jumped out to a quick four-goal lead over Pittsfield, and continued to show off their offensive abilities with a 17-9 victory.
"We've been struggling to remain focused and intense during warm-up," von Holtz said. "It's been game after game after game. We wait and [our opponent] scores three before we decide we are going to play. I wanted to change the warm-up, so we were intense and ready to play on the first whistle."
Sarah Stripp led the way for the Mounties with five goals and two assists. Pittsfield's Tori Symanski also had five goals, but was held to just one in the first half as the Mounties built a five-goal lead.
