Turbine runs in Scituate as suit goes forward

SCITUATE (AP) -- A wind turbine in Scituate will keep spinning while a family that lives nearby sues to shut it down.

The Patriot Ledger reports that on Tuesday a Superior Court judge denied a preliminary injunction sought by Mark and Lauren McKeever that would have shut the turbine down while their suit is pending.

The couple lives with their two children about 640 feet from the turbine. They say its noise and shadow flicker are causing health problems, including nausea, headaches and sleep deprivation.

The turbine's owner, Scituate Wind, has agreed to plant six trees to act as a buffer between the McKeever's home.

Meanwhile, a town board of health attorney says the McKeevers received $20,000 for signing a confidential agreement with Scituate Wind in which they agreed not to contest the turbine's installation.
