TV: Reader Queries ZZ Top pens 'Duck Dynasty' theme

Q: Could you please find the words to the theme song of "Duck Dynasty?"

A: The theme to the reality show is "Sharp Dressed Man," an ‘80s gem by ZZ Top. It appears that the show’s brief use of the theme includes the lyrics "Silk suit, black tie/I don’t need a reason why/They come runnin’ just as fast as they can/’Cause every girl crazy ‘bout a sharp dressed man."

Q: I am a BIG fan of "Doc Martin." When are there going to be new shows, if ever again?

A: According to the folks at American Public Television, which distributes the British series in this country, there will be a seventh season of the drama starring Martin Clunes. But it may not air until 2016. The series is not even expected to resume production until the second half of 2015.

Q: How can I communicate to NBC that they should definitely renew/extend the short season of "Undateable?"

A: Perhaps you have psychic powers that got your message through. NBC has ordered a second season of the comedy. Variety says it will consist of 10 episodes, and that it is not yet clear whether it will air in the regular 2014-15 season or in the summer of 2015.

Q: In the 1980s the TV show "Cagney & Lacey" featured Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless. While I have occasionally seen Tyne Daly since then, not once have I seen Sharon Gless. Any word on her?

A: A few. After "Cagney & Lacey" ended its regular-series run in 1988 (there would be several TV-movies in the ‘90s), she starred in the drama "The Trials of Rosie O’Neill" (1990-92). She was also in the ensemble cast of "Queer As Folk" (2000-05), in the miniseries "The State Within" (2006), in five episodes of "nip/tuck" in 2008-09 and on the series "Burn Notice" (2007-13).

Q: Can you tell me what happened to "Hart of Dixie"? Was it picked up for another season?

A: The CW series starring Rachel Bilson has been renewed for 10 episodes beginning in 2015. Bilson, by the way, is expecting her first child with longtime beau Hayden Christensen. A CW executive told reporters not long ago that "eventually" Bilson’s character, Zoe Hart, will get pregnant, too.
