Tyringham: Novelist to give Bidwell House history talk
Author Rachel Urquhart will discuss her critically-acclaimed novel, "The Visionist," as part of the Bidwell House history talk series at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Tyringham Union Church, Main Road.
"The Visionist," set in rural 19th-century New England, is the story of a young girl who finds refuge in a Shaker community after escaping from an abusive home.
In her talk, Urquhart will share the insights gained from balancing historical accuracy and creative fiction. Historical events, photographs, period language patterns, and oral stories all inform her narrative.
The suggested donation is $15/$10 for members.
