Unlocked vehicles target of theft in Lee
LEE — A thief or thieves has been targeting unlocked vehicles in the East Street area.
Over the Labor Day weekend, at least six homeowners reported break-ins of their cars parked in driveways on East and surrounding streets, according the Lee Police Department.
Police Chief Jeff Roosa says wallets and other valuables were stolen.
"Not one car window was broken," he said. "Locks keep people out."
The Lee Police Facebook page posted an urgent message late Tuesday afternoon reminding all residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables when the automobiles aren't in use.
Anyone with information about the break-ins or sees suspicious activity in town, call the Lee Police Department at 243-5530 or 243-2100.
