Up to 5 years in prison for Pittsfield man for drug, conspiracy charges


PITTSFIELD >> A city man was sentenced to up to five years in prison on drug and conspiracy charges from 2011 and 2012.

Anthony S. Johnson, 32, pleaded guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Monday to five counts of distribution of cocaine and one count each possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

The incidents occurred in Pittsfield between June 29, 2011 and Jan. 30, 2012.

Judge John Agostini ordered Johnson to serve 2 1/2 to 5 years at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on March 28.

The investigations were conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, state troopers assigned to the District Attorney's Office and members of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force.
