Update: Pittsfield man ID’d in Tuesday crash into home

PITTSFIELD -- Police have identified the driver of a Toyota that crashed into a Second Street home on Tuesday morning.

The driver, Jerome Cookson, 72, of Pittsfield, was believed to have undergone cardiac arrest at some point during the single-car accident. The crash resulted in extensive damage to the car and a part of the front of the home.

Cookson was initially transported to Berkshire Medical Center before being flown to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield on Tuesday. He was being treated in the heart and vascular critical care unit at the hospital as of Friday morning.
