US Sen. Brown to deliver address on tax policy

Tuesday August 14, 2012

BOSTON (AP) - U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is planning to deliver what he's calling a major policy speech about the need to keep taxes low.

The Massachusetts Republican is hoping to contrast himself with his Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren.

Brown has argued that Warren supports tax increases that would cost trillions over the next decade.

Warren's campaign disputes Brown's numbers, and says Brown has voted to maintain tax subsidies for oil companies and is against closing tax loopholes that allow the wealthy to pay lower tax rates than middle class families. .

Brown is scheduled to deliver the speech at noon at Lombardo's Restaurant in Randolph.

The Massachusetts Senate race is one of the most closely watched in the nation and is already the costliest election fight in state history with three months to go until Election Day.
