Vandals shoot out windows of 30 cars in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD (AP) -- Police say a pellet gun has been used to shoot out the windows of at least 30 vehicles parked on Springfield streets.
The latest vandalism is believed to have taken place late Wednesday and early Thursday. There also have been reports of cars damaged Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The windows shot out were on the passenger's or driver's side.
Sgt. John Delaney, aide to Police Commissioner William Fitchet, tells the Springfield Republican (bit.ly/UDXKJQ) that police suspect the same people are involved in the vandalism. He says some witnesses reported seeing a dark Ford Explorer driving away near the scene of one of the incidents.
Delaney says officers who patrol the city at night will be on the lookout for vandalism.
