Ventfort Hall is a worthy cause

Wednesday May 1, 2013

For the past six years, I have come to know Ventfort Hall as a volunteer coordinator of the sumptuous afternoon teas, but I write as a retired banker.

I am impressed by the conservative approach of this small, dedicated leadership in financing Ventfort Hall’s restoration. To date, $3.5 million worth of careful restoration work has been accomplished without mortgaging the building. Ventfort Hall’s assets are solid, and the fact that the property is free and clear is remarkable in this era of over-spending.

The need for contributions is urgent, and we are grateful for many recent donors. We must bring the basement of this wonderful building up to code and build the elevator for disabled access to vital exhibition space upstairs. But against all odds, Ventfort Hall has build a reputation of miracles on a tight budget!
