Victim of Methuen house fire identified
METHUEN, Mass. (AP) -- Authorities say the woman who died in an early morning house fire in Methuen was the daughter of a late city firefighter.
The victim of the blaze spotted by a patrolling police officer at about 3:30 a.m. Monday was identified by authorities as 50-year-old Lisa Shirton.
Neighbors say Shirton lived alone in the 19th century home.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, but it appears electrical in nature and is not considered suspicious.
The fire started in the same room where the victim was found. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was the second fatal house fire in the city this year. An elderly couple died in a February fire.
