Volunteer Recognition Nominees sought for Hayden award

PITTSFIELD -- The Berk shire Chamber of Com merce is seeking nominations for the 2012 Francis H. Hayden Award, which will be presented at the chamber’s annual meeting on Wednes day, Dec. 12.

Nominations are due at the Chamber on or before Mon day, Nov. 5.

The award will be given to a Northern Berkshire County resident who has made a significant contribution to the economic, social, and/or cultural improvement of any or all of the communities of Adams, Cheshire, Clarks burg, Florida, New Ashford, North Adams, Savoy, and Williamstown.

Candidates will be judged on the basis of volunteer efforts rather than any measure of success in the field in which they are normally employed. Nominations will be solicited from individuals and organizations in the Northern Berkshire area.

A detailed statement of qualifications to accompany the nomination form is re quested. Specific support in formation will be an invaluable aid to the selection committee.

Judging is based on a point system. Points will be awarded on the basis of exceptional leadership, personal sacrifice, the importance of the project to the community, challenges, and creative uses of available resources.

The individual attaining the greatest number of points above 40 will be declared the winner.

Now in its 43rd year, the Hayden Award has been presented annually since 1969.
