Wahconah girls lacrosse rallies in second half for win

PITTSFIELD -- Jordan Budaj's five goals led the Wahconah girls lacrosse team to an 11-5 win over Pittsfield on Thursday.

The Warriors (7-1-2, 5-1-1 county) led 5-2 at halftime but had to pull away in the second half. Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said her team struggled offensively and was "forcing it and just being impatient," which led to turnovers. Still, she added that the defense played well until Wahconah composed itself offensively.

That happened early in the second half.

"They came out and got two goals right in the beginning of the second half, and I called a timeout and said, ‘You've gotta play harder,' " Budaj said. "Then we scored five times in a row. So we kind of pulled away with that."

Perin Genaway and Emmy Cote scored two goals each for the victors. Lydia McKnight scored twice for Pittsfield.
