BOSTON (AP) -- Demo cratic U.S. Senate hopeful Eliz abeth Warren has held her first fall rally in Boston as the race for the seat once held by late Sen. Edward Kennedy intensifies.

Warren is locked in a tight race with incumbent Republi can Sen. Scott Brown.

Gov. Deval Patrick and U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano joined Warren at the rally at Boston University's Morse Auditor ium, where hundreds of students and other supporters showed up Saturday.

With less than two months to go until Election Day, the race is already the most expensive political contest in Massachu setts history.

In recent days both candidates put out ads taking more direct aim at each other.

At the rally, Warren discussed her efforts to help working families in Massachusetts.

Warren is credited with proposing the federal Consumer Fi nancial Protection Bureau which enforces consumer fi nance laws.
