Water main break cancels classes, concert today at Drury High School

Posted

NORTH ADAMS -- Workers are continuing to address a water main break that canceled for today classes and afterschool programs at Drury High School.

All other schools in the North Adams public school district are open today.

"This is not the first time that we have had to cancel classes at Drury because of a water main break," said district administrator Ellen Sutherland. "There is no damage to the school and the break, which is near the north end of the building, is part of the ongoing infrastructure problems with pipes that North Adams has been experiencing."

She said Drury officials hope to have the break repaired and the building re-opened this afternoon, but they decided to in advance cancel afterschool programs and postpone the Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem concert scheduled tonight in the Drury Performing Arts Center, "rather than having to do it at the last minute if it turned out the building was not accessible."

She said, "We fully anticipate school will be in session on Monday."
