Harvest Festival at the Pittsfield Farmer's Market: Grab your little ghost, superhero or princess for a Halloween parade around The Common on First Street in Pittsfield, Mass. The festival on Saturday, Oct. 15, coincides with the last outdoor market of the season. There will also be music, face painting and more from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Take a ride down Purgatory Road: But only if you have the guts — beware the plague! This 35-minute hayride at 190 Cleveland Road, Dalton, Mass., is annual scary fun. It runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 14 - Oct. 22, and benefits teen suicide awareness programs.

The Pumpkin Trail: Visit the Naumkeag Pumpkin Trail for a non-scary treat! Take a guided tour with favorite local critters on this all-ages event. Costumes and reservations are recommended. Oct. 20 - Oct. 22.

Fallapalooza: Celebrate all things fall in Bennington, Vt., on Saturday, Oct. 29. Bring your little trick-or-treaters store to store from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for goodies and games. At the Bennington Farmers Market, hop on the roaming railroad, live entertainment and other children activities.
