Wednesday's colleges: MCLA women's soccer falls
SPRINGFIELD -- Natalie Caney scored her 12th goal of the season on Wednesday afternoon, but it wasn't enough for the MCLA women's soccer team.
Western New England's Brionna Voight scored the tiebreaking goal in the 62nd minute as the Golden Bears (8-3-2) beat the Trailblazers 2-1.
Caney is now tied for 10th on MCLA's single-season goal scorer list. She joins Betsy D'Agostino (1987), Laurie Pecoraro (1998) and Johanna Moore (2012), as having scored 12 goals in a season.
The Western New England defense is anchored by former Pittsfield High School standout Amanda Waluszko. MCLA had 11 shots and only two corner kicks. WNE goalie Briana Kubic made four saves.
For the Trailblazers (5-7), Kathryn Daly made five saves.
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- Williams took its 12-match win streak on the road, and left it in the Hudson Valley after SUNY-New Paltz scored a 3-2 victory.
