West Springfield man uses python to attack girlfriend, according to police


WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Police say a West Springfield man faces multiple charges including assault and battery and animal cruelty for allegedly beating his girlfriend with a python.

Police have an issued an arrest warrant for 34-year-old Keith Paro, who fled the scene after Tuesday night's alleged attack.

His girlfriend suffered minor injuries, but police say Paro threw the snake in a hot tub after swinging it at the woman, and the animal died.

Police tell The Republican the couple got into an argument and Paro removed the snake from a cage and "began beating the female repeatedly."

Paro also allegedly broke furniture and stole some items before leaving.

He faces charges of domestic assault and battery, larceny over $250, wanton and malicious damage over $250 and cruelty to animals.
