West Stockbridge: Prestigious award given to town native

Robert Negrini, a native of West Stockbridge, was recently honored at a University Day opening at California State University, Bakersfield, where he has served as a professor of geology since 1985.

Negrini received The Faculty Scholarship and creative activity award recognizing outstanding contributions to the principle and practice of research.

Negrini has received 19 research grants for a total of $6.5 million in funding.

He is a 1975 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School, Great Barrington. He received his bachelor of arts degree cum laude from Amherst College in 1979, and his doctorate from UC Davis in 1986.
