Williamstown: ABC Clothing Sale slated Saturday
WILLIAMSTOWN >> The 23rd annual ABC Clothing Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, 906 Main St.
Since 2015, ABC has stood for A Better Community. The clothing sale's mission is to benefit local charitable organizations that serve at-risk youth and families by addressing hunger, poverty, and inequality in the community.
Items for sale include name brand gently-used clothing, accessories, shoes, jewelry and watches, vintage/retro clothing, costumes, T-shirts and athletic clothing, plus the Williams Room, an area offering clothing with a Williams College theme.
The Red Carpet Room for women and The Men's Den offer a selection of fine clothing, shoes, scarves, bags, and ties.
Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own large plastic bags for accumulating bargains as they browse.
At 2 p.m., after the sale closes, shoppers can purchase a large bag for $20 and fill it with whatever items remain.
Credit cards and debit cards will be accepted.
The Steering Committee has announced the clothing sale's grant recipients. The amount of each gift is dependent on the amount of money raised by the sale.
The following beneficiaries will receive unrestricted cash donations to support their work in Northern Berkshire communities: The Elizabeth Freeman Center, North Adams; Louison House Family Life Support Center, Adams; Northern Berkshire Interfaith Action Initiative's Friendship Center Food Pantry, North Adams; and Williamstown Food Pantry at Saints Patrick & Raphael Parish.
This year a large amount of clothing and bedding has already been donated to the Berkshire Immigrant Center, Soldier On, Haiti Plunge, Goodwill Industries, local veterinary clinics, and a village with extreme need in Malawi, Africa.
