Williamstown: Church to host Blessing of the Animals

Posted

First Congregational Church is hosting a special Blessing of the Animals at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31. The event is open to the public and everyone is invited to bring pets, or a photo or a memory of a pet, to be blessed.

All animals are invited but must be on leads or crated. Children may bring a favorite stuffed animal.

The event begins with a gathering in front of the church, located at 906 Main St. A short service and blessing by the Rev. Mark Longhurst will take place in the sanctuary.

Larger animals must stay outside but any housebroken animal is encouraged to be brought inside for the service. After the service, there will be a recessional back outdoors, with refreshments for all.

The Blessing of the Animals is sponsored by the First Congregational Church Deacons and Vitality Team. Information: church office at (413) 458-4273.
