Williamstown: Clark to launch film series

The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute will air a Saturday afternoon series of six classic films beginning Jan. 12 and extending through March 23. All screenings are at 2 p.m. Admission is free.

"Widescreen Wonders" celebrates the biggest and best of popular movies, while showcasing the Clark’s HD projection capacity. All of the films won numerous Academy Awards.

The schedule follows:

Jan. 12: "The Bridge on the River Kwai" (1957); Jan. 26: "Ben-Hur" (1959); Feb. 9: "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962); Feb. 23: "The Deer Hunter" (1978); March 9: "Gandhi" (1982); and March 23: "The Last Emperor" (1987).
