Williamstown: First graduating class at MGRHS plans 50th reunion
It has been 50 years since Monday, Sept. 11, 1961, when the 78 seniors entered a brand new Mount Greylock Regional High School.
This year, the Class of 1962 will hold a three-day reunion event, starting with an informal get-together at the Williams Inn on Friday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. There will be a banquet on Saturday, Sept. 29, with a social hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.
Several former teachers have been invited to attend.
A memorabilia table will include photos and articles from the former Williamstown News, a local newspaper that published articles in 1961 through the school year ending with graduation in June 1962, and a CD with articles and photos of the first class yearbook, including music from the era.
The committee will also present to the classmates a mini-bio reunion booklet of memorable items that have been submitted by the classmates. There is also a tribute page to the 11 deceased classmates.
The class will meet for brunch on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m., in the Mount Greylock Regional High School cafeteria and a tour of the school will follow.
Committee members for the 50th reunion are Mary Ellen (Carrow) Donna, Maureen McGuire, Margaret (Grady) Weyers, Caroline (George) Martel, Kathy (Ostrander) Zoito, and Kenneth Howard.
