Williamstown: Professors to present Early Christian Studies lectures

Williams College Croghan Bicentennial Visiting Professors in Biblical and Early Christian Studies J. Albert Harrill and David Brakke will present two lectures at 5 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2. Both lectures will take place at the Faculty House.

Harrill will present "'Exegetical Torture' in Early Christian Biblical Interpretation," from 5 to 6 p.m. Harrill is a classics professor at Ohio State University.

Brakke will present "From Rewriting to Exegesis: Gnostics, Valentinians, and the Birth of Early Christian Biblical Interpretation," from 7 to 8 p.m. Brakke is the Joe R. Engle Chair in the History of Christianity at Ohio State University.

The Croghan Fund, the Department of Religion and the Dean of the Faculty Office are sponsoring this event.
