Williamstown: Residents reminded to license dogs

Town Clerk Mary Kennedy advises dog owners that the Williamstown bylaws require payment of a $10 late fee in addition to the cost of the annual dog license for dogs not licensed before June 15.

New licenses are required by law on April 1. Licenses can be purchased from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the town clerk’s office at Town Hall.

Licenses cost $5 for a neutered male or spayed female and $12 for those not sterilized. All dogs over the age of six months must have an active rabies vaccination in effect in order to obtain a license. No license can be issued without proof that the dog has received a rabies shot.

Residents who are unable to get to the town clerk’s office can also mail the fee, along with the required rabies proof, and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the town clerk at 31 North St..
