Williamstown Theatre Festival: New musical due in summer
WILLIAMSTOWN --Williamstown Theatre Festival artistic director Jenny Gersten has confirmed a New York Times report that a new musical based on the popular novel "The Bridges of Madison County" will have its world premiere this summer at the festival.
The production was mentioned in a story in Monday's Times about upcoming shows that may or may not be seen on Broadway in the future,
"As reported in the New York Times (Monday), we will be presenting a world premiere musical of ‘The Bridges of Madison County' on the Main Stage as part of the 2013 Williamstown Theatre Festival season," Gersten said in an email to the Berkshire Eagle.
"The season announcement is forthcoming in a few weeks, and full details will be available then."
Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher will direct Kelli O'Hara, who will be returning to the festival following her appearance here last summer in the new musical, "Far From Heaven."
Based on the best-selling novel by Robert James Waller, this musical features a book by Pulitzer Prize-winner Marsha Norman and score by Tony Award-winner Jason Robert Brown.
