Williamstown: Williams to compete in ‘Schooled’ championship

Friday December 7, 2012

Williams College will compete in the championship round of "Schooled: NESN’s College Face Off" on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

NESN will air the show at 7 p.m. that evening. This competitive trivia series features eight different New England colleges. In each episode, three students from two schools compete in a single-elimination tournament. Alex Kling ‘16, Lysa Vola ‘13, and Marty Clarke ‘14 make up the team from Williams.

Team Williams bested Amherst College in its first-round matchup, and then beat Harvard to advance to the final match. On Tuesday, they’ll take on Providence College, which won the tournament last year.

In each half-hour episode of ‘Schooled,’ college teams compete in academic and intelligence-based challenges meant to test contestants in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations. The winning team at the end of each episode moves forward in the bracket, and the losing team is eliminated. The ultimate winning team will receive cash and prizes.

The second season of the seven-episode series began on Tuesday, Oct. 30, when Harvard University defeated Boston College. Other schools participating in the tournament are the University of New Hampshire, University of Vermont, and Norwich University. The reality show is directed by Scott Masterson and hosted by comedian Michael Showalter.
