Windsor: Ham radio operators to hold annual field day demonstration

Posted

The Northern Berkshire Amateur Radio Club will be demonstrating emergency communications during the annual field day event on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29, at Kendall’s Landing Area on Peru Road.

Amateur Radio operators, often called "hams," provide backup communications for everything from the American Red Cross to FEMA and even for the International Space Station.

The public will have a chance to meet and talk with local ham radio operators during public demonstrations which will simulate what might happen during an emergency.
