Winning streak for Taconic boys lacrosse team


PITTSFIELD -- The Taconic lacrosse team reached a milestone on Thursday afternoon. For the first time, the Braves have a winning streak. Taconic made it two straight wins by beating Monument Mountain 11-2.

"We've played two solid games in a row," said Taconic coach Bill O'Brien-Garvey. "Today, I don't have any complaints at all."

Mike Perkett had a big day for the Braves. He scored five goals, had two assists and was 12-0 on face offs.

Pittsfield, 13, Lee 11

LEE -- Leading by two goals at halftime, Pittsfield had just enough offense to hold off Lee (3-2, 3-2).

Alex Teichert led Pittsfield with five goals. Ryan Jacobbi added two goals and two assists.

Cav Wolski led Lee with four goals.

"Their whole team was moving the ball really well," Lee coach Mike Snyder said. "It made it tough for the defense to stay on their man."

Wahconah 20, Hoosac 6

DALTON -- Wahconah jumped out to a 6-0 lead after one quarter and never let Hoosac Valley back in the game.

Wahconah coach Zach Sondrini credited his team's lack of mistakes for helping roll to the victory.

"We kept the penalties to a minimum, which was good for us," he said."

Curran Pularo had six goals to lead Wahconah while Quinn Caesar had three.

Monument 10, Drury 6

NORTH ADAMS -- Monument Mountain rolled into Joe Wolfe Field having not played in 10 days. When the game was over, it looked more like the host Blue Devils hadn't been in a game for a while.

Drury (4-2, 0-2) committed seven errors and eight of the 10 Monument runs were unearned. Drury starter Schuyler Robinson took the loss.

"He battled and he did his job," said Drury coach Pat Boulger. "We just did not make plays behind him. We have to go back to work."

Winning pitcher Peter Oggiani had four of Monument's 14 hits. Kirby Bryce and Tyler Cote each had two hits for Drury.

Mount Greylock 10, Lee 4

WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Mounties bunched six of their nine total hits in the sixth inning, leading to a six-run inning and a victory.

Jack Thistle, Nick Disanti and Delaney Pudvar each had two hits for Greylock (6-1, 6-1). Disanti added four RBI.

Robby Buffis earned the win, pitching 5 1/3 innings, striking out eight and allowing one earned run.

"[J.T.] Brown did a really good job and kept us off balance until the sixth inning," Greylock coach Steve Messina said. "We put the bat on the ball and got some runs."

Pittsfield 13, Hoosac 10

CHESHIRE -- Sam Fick's two-run single in the top of the eighth inning gave Pittsfield some breathing room, and Joe Gratton pitched out of a jam in the home eighth as the Generals held on.

Pittsfield led 10-2 after four innings, but the Hurricanes (2-3) fought back to tie the game in the sixth. The Hurricanes had a chance to win in the seventh but Matt Koperniak struck out with the bases loaded to end the threat.

In the eighth, Pittsfield (5-3) scored three runs on two hits. Hoosac got runners on first and second with two outs, but Gratton came on to strike out Joey Buonemani to end the game and pick up the save.

Denis Cooney, the second Pittsfield pitcher, got the win. Brandon Tworig, the third Hoosac pitcher, took the loss.
