Writer ignores his church's sin
Now that the Pope is retiring, Tony Dinsmore of Stockbridge is speaking "on behalf of the 1.2 billion Catholics"? ("Church doesn’t need to change," letter, Feb. 14.) Well then, Your Holiness, I need to say this.
You mention the litany of challenges the Church has faced and survived, and yet there is one challenge you conveniently omitted -- the horror of sexual abuse of untold thousands of the faithful and the innocent, perpetrated by your priests, covered up by your bishops, your cardinals, and your popes.
In this case, you have truly been merciful to the sinner. And you buried the sin.
