Youth hockey tourney concludes Sunday in North Adams

NORTH ADAMS -- The Battle In the Berkshires youth hockey tournament concludes Sunday at the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Skating Rink, with both Berkshire Braves teams taking the ice.

There are five games at the rink Sunday, starting with the 8 a.m. under-16 game between the Braves and the Levis Commandeurs team from Quebec. At 10:40 a.m., the Braves' under-18 team played the Wallingford Hawks of Philadelphia in a non-point game.

The top two teams in each pool will meet for the championship. The U-16 title game is at noon, with the U-18 championship scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

The Braves' U-16 team won the only game on its schedule Saturday, beating the Dix Hills (N.Y.) Hawks 7-2.

The U-18 team was also victorious, coming from behind and beating the Hatfield (Pa.) Ice Dogs 4-3.
