Coach: Eryn Brewer (2nd year)
Last year: Boys 2-7, Girls 5-4
Key Returnees: Cori Ghidotti, Sr.; Alyssa Bush, Sr.; Emma Whitney,
So.; Julia Whitney, So.; David Rowe, Sr.; Keith Pero, Sr.; Mike
Disanti, Jr.; Micah Tassone, 8th.
The cupboard is far from bare when it comes to Brewer's girls' team,
which has 20 swimmers.
That's because Cori Ghidotti and Alyssa Bush have returned for their
senior seasons. Ghidotti and Bush did not swim high school last year,
opting to swim exclusively for Purple Valley Aquatics.
"They swim with most of the girls and they had a past dynamic," said
Brewer, a former Wahconah and UMass swimmer, "and picked up pretty
much where they left off."
Sophomore Elizabeth Bartlett, another PVA swimmer, will be joining the
Hurricanes this year.
They're added to a team that already had All-Eagle selections Emma and
Julia Whitney on it, and the Hurricanes look ready.
"I have high hopes for them," said Brewer. "They're going to put up a
good fight against everyone else out there."
The boys situation is somewhat different, as only five will compete
for Hoosac this year. It's part of the ebb and flow of youth league
All-Berkshire pick Mike DiSanti, who was named as part of the 400
relay team, is back, along with Keith Pero, David Rowe and Micah
"Mike is one of our top swimmers and [will] hopefully get some Western
Mass. times," said Brewer.
Brewer said her goal with the boys is to keep their spirits up,
because with only five swimmers, team wins will be hard to come by.
