Amherst Area Amateur Astronomers Association (the As) and the Department of Recreation and Conservation are sponsoring a star gazing program from the summit of Mount Greylock from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Sept. 22.
Members of the 5As have available for public viewing a number of different telescopes with lens apertures varying in size from 3-20 inches.
The program is free, appropriate for all ages and canceled only if there is heavy cloud cover or rain.
Participants should wear warm clothing for chilly evening temperatures after sunset. A flashlight is recommended for walking the summit paths to the stargazing location.
Participants will meet on the summit near the War Memorial Tower. The program is wheelchair accessible; reasonable accommodations may be available upon request.
