The Christian Center will celebrate the 150 year anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.
An authentic African-themed lunch will be served at noon. The menu includes fried chicken, catfish, greens, macaroni and cheese, green beans, and corn bread.
The program features bucket drumming and storytelling by Valerie Hamilton; bring a drum or a bucket if available. Activities for children will be offered and there will be a time for community sharing.
The Christian Center will present the rich history, culture and contributions of African Americans while taking a look into a variety of historical events and individuals.
