Harriet Tubman’s greatest rescue will be the subject of award-winning author Scott Christianson’s multimedia presentation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at the Du Bois Center, 684 South Main St.

Christianson will discuss and sign copies of his non-fiction work, "Freeing Charles: The Struggle to Free a Slave on the Eve of the Civil War," a work that has been featured on C-Span TV and recommended by the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Copies of the book will be on sale.

The product of 18 years of research and writing, Christianson’s book has inspired a symphony, a series of epic paintings, a stage play, and other historical commemorations.
