Based on a true story, the R-rated "Pain & Gain," opening Friday at Berkshire Mall Cinema 10 in Lanesborough, stars Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie as a trio of bodybuilders who engineer a kidnapping that eventually involves extortion, torture and murder.
Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub and Rob Corddry also are featured in the cast.
Broolyn-based indie rock band The Lisps will present a stripped-down (but still boisterous) performance of 17 songs from their "Futurity" album on Saturday at Mass Moca's B-10 Club in North Adams.
"Futurity" tells the story of one Julian Munro, a Union soldier who aspires to be an inventor.
