The Rambling Poets open mic season comes to a close tonight at The Parlor Cafe, 30 Ashland St., North Adams.
Sign-ups start at 7:30 for the First Thursday Poetry literary open mic. Words take flight at 8. All poets have approximately 5 to 8 minutes, or two pieces to perform. Participants are encouraged to bring poems, prose, lyrics, essays, etc., be it your own or attributed to someone else. Afterward, the band Down County will perform.

Can you believe it's May already? Time for another First Fridays Artswalk to take place from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow throughout downtown Pittsfield. The event is free and open to the public. An Artswalk After Party will be held from 8 to 10 at the Whitney Center for the Arts, located at 42 Wendell Ave.
More than 15 exhibitions will be on display, featuring work by more than 40 accomplished regional artists at various locations throughout the month. Artswalk Chair Mary McGinnis will lead a guided tour at 5 at the BCC Intermodal Gallery at the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority, located at 1 Columbus Ave.
Also happening on Friday night at 8, "dirty punk reggae heavyweights" Danny Pease & the Regulators and "reggae stalwarts" Rebel Alliance will take over Casey's Billiards on Dalton Avenue in Pittsfield.
ZipStohr Comedy at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday brings back its third "Berkshire Comedy Spotlight" to the Boyd Quinson Mainstage at Barrington Stage Company, 30 Union St. in Pittsfield.
The lineup includes six professional comedians who have grown up in the Berkshires and are now doing stand-up comedy in various parts of the country. Saturday night's lineup includes: Jay Montepare (from Williamstown to Hollywood), Rick D'Elia (from Cheshire to Los Angeles), Karen Rontowski (from Pittsfield to L.A.), Mike Whitman (from Dalton to Boston), Brian Collins (from Pittsfield to Kentucky) and Kevin Bartini (from Lee to New York City).
Tickets range from $25 to $35 for this age 18-plus show.
