PITTSFIELD — Barrington Stage Company's 2016 Boyd-Quinson Mainstage season continues Friday with the start of previews of Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance." Press opening is Wednesday.

Directed by Tony Award winner John Rando and choreographed by Emmy Award winner Joshua Bergasse, "The Pirates of Penzance" is scheduled to run through Aug. 13, with performances at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and matinees at 2 on Wednesday and Friday, and 5 on Sunday. There is no matinee this Friday or next Wednesday.

The cast is headed by Tony Award nominee Will Swenson as The Pirate King, Scarlett Strallen as Mabel, Kyle Dean Massey as Frederic, Tony Award nominee David Garrison as Major-General Stanley, Phillip Boykin as Samuel, and Jane Carr as Ruth.

Joining them are Jacqueline Petroccia as Kate, Lindsay O'Neil as Edith, Alex Gibson as Sergeant, and Darius Barnes, Tommy Bracco, Michael Hartung, Samuel Ladd, Melanie Leinbach, Jeanette Minson, Drew Nellessen, Benjamin Rivera, Morgan Rose, Alanna Saunders, Claire Saunders, Eric Stretch, and Michael Williams.

Music director is Darren R. Cohen.
