Lenox High School has a pair of top seeds in the Western Massachusetts soccer tournament.
Despite a 6-6-5 record, the Millionaire boys -- the defending Western Mass. Division III champions -- have the No. 1 seed in brackets released Wednesday. They will face either No. 8 Gateway or No. 9 St. Joseph's in the quarterfinals.
Lenox's girls, at 11-4-2, are also a top seed in the D-III bracket. The Millionaires could face either No. 8 St. Joe's (7-7-3) or No. 9 Franklin County Tech in the quarterfinals.
In all, eight boys teams and eight girls teams from the Berkshires are in the postseason. All dates and times are to be determined, while all Western Mass. finals will be held Nov. 10-11.
North Division boys champion Mount Greylock (14-3-1) was leapfrogged in the bracket by Monument Mountain (13-2-2), which holds the No. 3 seed in Division II. Monument will host Putnam in the first round, while Greylock, the No. 4 seed which lost Sunday to Monument, hosts Athol in the first round. In other D-II first-round boys games involving county teams, No. 10 Wahconah travels to South Hadley, and No. 11 Hoosac Valley goes to Hampshire.
Joining Lenox and St. Joe's in the D-III boys bracket are No. 10 Lee (at Westfield St. Mary's in the first round) and No. 11 McCann Tech (at Sabis in the first round).
In the Division I girls bracket, Berkshire County North Division champion Pittsfield (11-1-3) earned the No. 5 seed and a first-round bye. The Generals, whose only loss is to top seed East Longmeadow, will travel to No. 4 Northampton for a quarterfinal match.
In Division II, both No. 4 Greylock (10-3-3) and No. 5 Hoosac (11-4) earned first-round byes, but will meet at Greylock in the quarterfinal round. Greylock beat the Hurricanes on Saturday to win the South Division championship.
No. 6 seed Wahconah (8-6-3) also earned a first-round bye, and a quarterfinal matchup at No. 3 Southwick.
In Division III, McCann Tech (16-1-1, No. 3) and Lee (7-7-3, No. 5) join Lenox and St. Joe's in the bracket. McCann will face either No. 6 Gateway or No. 11 Holyoke Catholic in the quarterfinals, while Lee heads to No. 4 Granby for a quarterfinal match.
