FALL RIVER (AP) -- A jury is deliberating the case of a Taunton man charged with fatally shooting a gas station attendant during a robbery.
The prosecution and defense in the first-degree murder trial of Steven Foster finished closing statements Thursday in Fall River Superior Court. The jury is expected to continue deliberations Friday.
Prosecutors say Foster shot Hegazy Sayed in October 2009 at Planet Petroleum in Taunton during a robbery to get rent money. They say Sayed was known to carry a large amount of cash while working.
Prosecutors say Foster's fingerprints were on the murder weapon.
The Taunton Daily Gazette (http://bit.ly/14cT4Sk ) reports that Foster's lawyer says there's no evidence linking Foster to the scene and police did not investigate claims that Foster was beaten by two men after touching a gun they showed him.
