The Mac-Haydn Theatre will hold auditions for the upcoming summer season on Saturday, April 1, for children ages 15 and under, and Saturday, April 8, for adults ages 16 and older.

Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days at Mary E. Dardess Elementary School on Woodbridge Avenue.

Adults will be considered for casting in the professional performing company, for the full summer as well as for roles or ensemble in one or more shows.

Children will be used in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" or a Mac-Haydn Children's Theatre show.

All auditionees should prepare a song and bring music in your key; an accompanist will be provided. There will also be a short dance/movement exercise.

Tips for those trying out are to pick a song that best shows off your voice, whether a ballad or up-tempo number, but please keep in mind that there are often overwhelming numbers of ballads.

If asked to sing 16 bars, choose the section which best shows off the strongest points of your voice. Please consider the types of shows in the schedule and pick appropriate material to the majority of those.

People who are primarily singers are not expected to be polished dancers, but do need to show their movement ability.

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" opens Mac-Haydn's 49th season, with rehearsals beginning May 15 and performances May 25 through June 4.

Also scheduled are "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," June 8-18; "Anything Goes," June 21-July 1; "Saturday Night Fever," July 6-23; "Sweeney Todd," July 27-Aug. 6; "Spamalot," Aug. 10-20; and "Hello, Dolly!," Aug. 24-Sept. 3.
