PITTSFIELD — The victim of a fatal shooting last weekend has been identified as Dalton resident Jaden Salois.

Salois, 18, died from a gunshot to his torso, according to a statement issued Tuesday afternoon by the Berkshire District Attorney's Office. His death has been ruled a homicide.

He was found about 2:13 a.m. Sunday outside a home on Edward Avenue near the city's Elm Street corridor.

The identification of Salois as the victim was withheld pending notification of family, according to the DA's Office. Those notifications were completed Tuesday afternoon.

The cause of his death was determined following an autopsy performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Holyoke.

City police have said they do not believe there is a threat to the general public in the wake of this shooting. The incident remains under investigation.
