PITTSFIELD — A water rescue is underway for a man who went missing Monday afternoon in Silver Lake.

Over a dozen Pittsfield police, fire and emergency medical officials are at the lake searching for the man.

Brothers Chris Daniels, 16, and Skylar Daniels, 13, were fishing at the lake when they saw a man with glasses, brown hair and a brown shirt swimming in the water, about 10 to 15 feet from the shore.

As the brothers went to leave the lakeside and climbed a small embankment, they heard the man cry for help and dropped their poles. But by the time they reached a spot with clear visibility of the water, they couldn't see the swimmer.

The brothers said they heard the man shout for help three times before arriving at the clear viewpoint. They called police shortly before 3 p.m.

Before they heard the man cry for help, he did not appear to be struggling. "When he passed us, he was swimming perfectly fine," Chris Daniels said.
