LANESBOROUGH — Nearly 500 homes and businesses in Lanesborough and New Ashford were without electricity for just 15 minutes.

Eversource reported the top of a utility pole caught fire around 7 p.m. Sunday, but Eversource crews had the problem fixed so quickly, electricity service was restored by 7:15 p.m., according to a company spokesman The pole problem occurred in the north end of Lanesborough, affecting 363 customers in Lanesborough and all 133 customers in New Ashford. Utility officials didn't say what caused the temporary blackout.
