To the editor:

We all make mistakes. The Berkshire Museum board of trustees must summon the courage and goodwill to acknowledge its mistake and reverse its decision to sell. Its failure to do so will result in irreparable harm to the museum. Private donations will cease, and art institutions will not trade, loan or otherwise deal with the museum.

Canceling the sale is the right thing to do for the museum, for the community and for the board.
