To the editor:

I am writing to express my disappointment with The Berkshire Museum's shortsighted plan to auction off one-of-a-kind masterpieces of our Berkshire legacy, generously bequeathed by Mr. Zenas Crane.

Like many other young residents of the Berkshires, I grew up with Norman Rockwell, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, the Hudson River Valley painters and many others. These fine artworks made an indelible impression upon me that lasts until this day.

Children and adults in Pittsfield and the Berkshires deserve to enjoy these irreplaceable paintings.
